DM, SP Inspect Patna Devkali Temple and Kanwar Yatra Route Ahead of Shravan Month.

Shahjahanpur, August 1: In view of the ongoing Shravan month and the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh and Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit conducted a comprehensive inspection of the famous Shiva temple at Patna Devkali, revered as the penance site of Daitya Guru Shukracharya, along with the Kanwar Yatra route.
During the visit, the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police offered prayers and performed Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva following traditional rituals. They also reviewed security arrangements and facilities being provided for the large number of devotees expected during the holy month.
The District Magistrate said the district administration has made extensive arrangements for security, traffic management, sanitation, and other essential services to ensure the smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra and the influx of devotees visiting Shiva temples for Jalabhishek. He directed officials to accord the highest priority to the safety and convenience of pilgrims and ensure that no negligence occurs at any level.
The officials interacted with the temple’s chief priest, Akhilesh Giri, to assess preparations for the annual fair, crowd management, security measures, and temple operations. The District Magistrate instructed authorities to ensure proper cleanliness, availability of safe drinking water, adequate lighting, barricading, and effective crowd management within the temple premises.
He noted that the Patna Devkali shrine attracts thousands of devotees from distant places throughout the Shravan month, especially on the first Monday of Shravan. Therefore, all arrangements must remain efficient and well-organized to ensure a hassle-free experience for pilgrims.
The District Magistrate also stated that comprehensive security measures have been put in place for the fair, including well-planned parking facilities to ensure smooth traffic movement and prevent congestion.
Following the temple inspection, the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police inspected the Kanwar Yatra route and directed concerned officials to maintain constant vigilance in their respective areas. They instructed that any issue or emergency should be addressed immediately and emphasized that no laxity in security or public convenience would be tolerated during the Shravan festivities. Officials were directed to work in close coordination and discharge their responsibilities with complete dedication.
