Camp Held in Shahjahanpur to Select Persons with Disabilities for Motorized Tricycles.
Shahjahanpur: A selection and registration camp for providing motorized tricycles to eligible persons with disabilities was organized at the Indian Red Cross Society office located on the premises of the Chief Medical Officer’s Office in Shahjahanpur.
The camp was organized in collaboration with ALIMCO Kanpur and the District Divyangjan Empowerment Department. A large number of eligible persons with disabilities from different development blocks of the district attended the camp and participated in the selection process.
Dr. Samriddhi Soni, Prosthetist and Orthotist from ALIMCO Kanpur, said that around 15 eligible beneficiaries from each district are proposed to be selected for motorized tricycles. She said applicants must be above 18 years of age and have at least 80 per cent disability. They are required to submit an Aadhaar card, income certificate and disability certificate. Both hands of the applicant must be in proper functional condition.
She further said that beneficiaries who have already received a motorized tricycle under the scheme can become eligible again only after completion of a period of at least five years.
Red Cross Society Secretary Dr. Vijay Johri welcomed Dr. Samriddhi Soni and honoured her with a memento on behalf of the Indian Red Cross Society. He appreciated ALIMCO Kanpur for its commendable efforts towards the welfare, empowerment and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
Dr. Johri said that providing assistive devices to needy persons with disabilities is an important step towards making them self-reliant. He added that the Red Cross Society would continue to actively support such humanitarian initiatives in collaboration with ALIMCO Kanpur and the District Divyangjan Empowerment Department.
Dr. Samriddhi Soni expressed her gratitude to the Red Cross Society for its cooperation and support. She said that the participation of social organizations is crucial for strengthening efforts aimed at the empowerment and welfare of persons with disabilities.
During the camp, Shripal, Sher Singh, Rajveer, Arvind, Binay, Sanu Khan, Ramsevak, Neeru, Baljeet, Sharif, Dharmveer, Tasavvur and Arvind Singh, among others, were shortlisted for motorized tricycles.
Red Cross volunteers, Divyangjan Welfare Committee member Balkrishna Pandey, Dr. Brijesh Gupta, Avnish Saxena, Ramdas, Ram Kumar, Vinod, Tarun Devi, Subarn Mishra, Amit Kumar and other volunteers, along with officials and employees of the District Divyangjan Empowerment Department, were present during the camp.
Dr. Vijay Johri appealed to members of the public, social organizations and other capable individuals to come forward and contribute to the empowerment and self-reliance of persons with disabilities. He said collective participation in humanitarian initiatives can help ensure that assistance reaches more deserving beneficiaries effectively.
