Residents Troubled by Speeding, Overloaded Tractor-Trolleys Carrying Soil During Night Hours Across Tilhar Town.
Allegations of Damage to Newly Constructed Road; Soil Falling on Road Raises Accident Concerns; Demand for Probe into Possible Illegal Mining.
Tilhar/Shahjahanpur: Residents of Nizamganj locality and the Gasra Road area in Tilhar town have expressed anger over the movement of speeding, overloaded tractor-trolleys during night hours. The residents have submitted a complaint to the Circle Officer (CO), Tilhar, seeking an inquiry into the matter and necessary action.
According to the complaint, the road from Gungun Marriage Hall towards Gasra was recently constructed by the Nagar Palika Parishad, Tilhar. The residents allege that after around 11 p.m., overloaded tractor-trolleys engaged in soil excavation and transportation pass through this route at high speed. This, they claim, is damaging the newly constructed road and causing soil to continuously spill onto the roadway.
According to local residents, during rainfall, the soil lying on the road comes into contact with water and makes the surface extremely slippery. This creates a risk of school-going children and pedestrians slipping and sustaining injuries in the morning. Residents have also expressed concern over the possibility of serious accidents due to heavy vehicles speeding through the area at night.
The residents said that the area is densely populated and that the frequent movement of heavy vehicles at high speed has created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among local people.
The complainants have demanded that effective measures be taken to prevent the movement of speeding and overloaded tractor-trolleys during night hours. If the transportation of soil is legal, the vehicles should be directed to use the bypass route located at the beginning of the road.
They have also requested the concerned authorities to verify whether the persons involved in soil excavation and transportation possess valid permissions or permits for mining and transportation. In case illegal mining or transportation is found, action should be taken as per the law. The residents have further demanded strict action against overloaded and speeding vehicles and requested that the soil scattered on the road be removed to make the route safe for commuters.
Residents of Nizamganj locality have also submitted a complaint to the District Magistrate, requesting that the matter be taken seriously and that an immediate inquiry be conducted in view of the safety of local residents, particularly young children, followed by necessary action.
The complaint has been signed by Ashish Sharma (Nominated Councillor, Nagar Palika Parishad, Tilhar, Shahjahanpur), Veerpal Singh, Ashok Pandit, Omveer Singh, Rajiv Yadav (Councillor), Shripal, Mahendra Yadav, Virendra Pal Singh, Manoj Kumar, among others.
