Three Juveniles Taken into Police Custody in 12-Year-Old Minor’s Gang-Rape Case.
Shahjahanpur/Tilhar: Taking swift action in a serious case involving the gang-rape of a 12-year-old minor girl in the police station area, the police have taken three juveniles into custody. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the police administration has initiated the process of producing all three before the Juvenile Justice Board, Shahjahanpur.
According to the information received, on July 31, the victim’s mother submitted a written complaint at the Tilhar police station. The complaint alleged that three juveniles had gang-raped her 12-year-old daughter on the same day.
Based on the complaint, the police immediately registered Case Crime No. 409/2026. The case was registered under Section 70(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 5(g)/6 of the POCSO Act, and Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Act.
Under the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, the guidance of the Additional Superintendent of Police (City), and the supervision of the Circle Officer (CO) Tilhar, a special police team was formed under the leadership of the Inspector-in-Charge, Tilhar. Considering the gravity of the case, the investigation is being conducted directly by the Circle Officer, Tilhar.
Based on technical analysis, evidence collection, and precise information from an informer, the police team identified and took into custody all three juveniles on the night of August 1, 2026, at around 11:10 PM.
According to the police, the three juveniles taken into custody were kept in the Child-Friendly Room at the Tilhar police station, where treatment in compliance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act was ensured. After completing all necessary investigative and legal procedures, they are being presented before the District Juvenile Justice Board.
