80th Independence Day Celebrated with Grandeur at Tilhar Municipal Council.
Tilhar/Shahjahanpur, August 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the Tilhar Municipal Council in Shahjahanpur.
Municipal Council Chairperson Hazra Begum and Executive Officer Sunil Kumar jointly hoisted the national flag at exactly 8:00 a.m. in the Municipal Council premises. Immediately after the flag hoisting, the National Anthem was sung, followed by patriotic slogans that echoed throughout the premises. Municipal Council employees, elected members, and prominent and respected citizens of the town were present on the occasion.
A special patriotic and cultural programme was organized at Gandhi Maidan, where the stage was beautifully decorated in the theme of patriotism. Various patriotic and cultural performances were presented during the programme. Before the performances, several prominent citizens delivered speeches highlighting the significance of India’s independence and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.
Later, under the leadership of the Municipal Chairperson and Executive Officer, a march was taken out from the Municipal Council premises. Municipal councillors, employees and other citizens participated in the march and reached Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Park, where floral tributes were paid to the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
The participants then proceeded to the Shaheed Kuti near Tilhar Kotwali, where they paid floral tributes to the statues of the martyrs and remembered their invaluable contribution to the country’s freedom.
Earlier, the Municipal Chairperson, Executive Officer, employees and councillors had paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi installed at Gandhi Maidan within the Municipal Council premises. On the occasion, slogans such as “Mahatma Gandhi Amar Rahein” and other patriotic chants were raised with enthusiasm.
The entire programme reflected the spirit of patriotism, national unity and respect for the freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifices for the country’s independence.
