20th Kanwar Yatra Batch Departs from Tilhar for Haridwar; Jalabhishek at Gola Gokarannath on August 12.
Tilhar (Shahjahanpur): Upholding a years-old religious tradition, the 20th batch of Kanwar pilgrims departed from Tilhar town on Thursday for Haridwar to fetch sacred Ganga water. The entire town echoed with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bol Bam.”
Prior to their departure, local residents and devotees accorded a warm send-off to the pilgrims with flower garlands and tilak, wishing them a safe and auspicious journey. Tremendous enthusiasm was witnessed among the devotees regarding the Kanwar Yatra.
Devotees to Fetch Sacred Water: The pilgrims in the batch will reach Haridwar to collect holy water from the River Ganga. Jalabhishek at Gola Gokarannath: After returning with the holy water, the devotees will perform the jalabhishek of Lord Shiva at the famous Gola Gokarannath Dham—known as ‘Chhoti Kashi’—on August 12.
Prayers for Regional Prosperity: At the start of the journey, devotees prayed to Lord Shiva for peace, prosperity, and happiness in the region.
A large number of local residents and devotees were present during the religious event to bid a respectful farewell to the pilgrims.
