Man Found Dead Hanging from Tree in Shahjahanpur: Family Alleges Murder, 5 Booked.
SHAHJAHANPUR: The body of a 25-year-old man was found hanging from a Dalbergia sissoo (sheesham) tree in Nabiyapur village under the Tilhar police station area on Wednesday, triggering panic in the locality. The family of the deceased has alleged murder and blamed five local villagers for the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Umesh, son of Raghuveer. According to his family, Umesh was murdered and his body was subsequently hanged to make it look like a suicide. They claimed an ongoing dispute with five villagers over the theft of a solar panel.
The family further alleged that following a complaint by the accused, local police had picked Umesh up from his home and assaulted him in custody, forcing him to confess to the theft out of fear. Before his death, Umesh reportedly sent an audio recording to his brother, accusing the five villagers of physically assaulting him.
Upon receiving the information, Birsinghpur outpost in-charge Arun Gautam reached the spot with a police team, followed by the Tilhar station house officer who inspected the scene. Police took custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
Umesh was the youngest of three brothers, survived by his brothers Sarvesh and Ramesh, mother Ramwati, and sisters Nanhi Devi and Pushpa Devi. Superintendent of Police Sourabh Dixit stated that police are investigating all angles of the case. Further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and ongoing probe.
