Disability Board Camp Cancelled Abruptly, Hundreds of Persons with Disabilities Face Trouble.
Persons with disabilities who arrived from distant areas had to return empty-handed; angry people submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate.
Shahjahanpur: The sudden cancellation of the Disability Board Camp scheduled for Monday at the old District Hospital left hundreds of persons with disabilities who had arrived from distant areas परेशान. Those who reached the camp were informed through a notice displayed at the hospital that the doctors had gone to Bareilly due to urgent work, and therefore the Disability Board Camp would not be held on Monday. Angered by the sudden cancellation, the persons with disabilities raised their concerns and reached the District Magistrate’s office, where they submitted a memorandum addressed to the DM.
Led by Neeraj Bajpai, State Secretary of Adarsh Divyang Kalyan Sansthan, the group alleged that no prior information had been given about the cancellation of the camp. Persons with disabilities from various parts of the district had reached the old District Hospital early in the morning. They came to know about the cancellation only after reaching the venue.
Neeraj Bajpai said that if the camp had to be cancelled due to any unavoidable reason, information should have been made public in advance through newspapers and social media. He said that the lack of prior information resulted in unnecessary expenditure of time and travel costs for persons with disabilities who had come from distant areas.
He said that the newly disabled persons who do not yet have disability certificates faced the greatest difficulty. Such people are also unable to avail themselves of the facilities available during travel. He termed the entire arrangement a serious lapse and strongly condemned it.
Demand for Prior Information in Future
Through the memorandum, the delegation demanded that if the Disability Board Camp has to be postponed or cancelled for any reason in the future, information should be issued well in advance through newspapers and social media. This would help save persons with disabilities coming from distant areas from unnecessary inconvenience.
Brahmdev, Vinod, Chandrasen, Ramkumar and a large number of persons with disabilities were present on the occasion.
