Assessment, Demolition and Auction of Dilapidated School Buildings to Be Completed by Sunday: DM
Instructions issued to shift high-tension power lines at the earliest and complete pending works under Operation Kayakalp on priority
Shahjahanpur, September 2: A review meeting on dilapidated school buildings under the Basic Education Department, high-tension electricity lines passing over schools, and works being carried out under Operation Kayakalp was held on Wednesday at the Bismil Auditorium in the Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate directed Block Development Officers (BDOs) to obtain lists of essential works such as boundary walls, toilets, approach roads, painting, tiling and other facilities from Block Education Officers and include them in the action plan. He made it clear that there should be no duplication of any work. The list of all approved works will be uploaded on the district website.
The District Magistrate said that in gram panchayats where Assistant Development Officers (Panchayat) are working as administrators, they must personally inspect the development works being carried out there and ensure quality checks through on-site inspections.
Process for Dilapidated Buildings to Be Completed by Sunday
During the review of dilapidated school buildings, the District Magistrate sought information on the progress of assessment, demolition and auction of debris related to 128 buildings identified earlier and another list of 240 buildings prepared subsequently. He directed that all related processes be completed in every respect by Sunday. He also instructed officials to obtain certificates from engineers for school buildings found not to be dilapidated.
High-Tension Lines Passing Over 285 Schools
During the review of high-tension electricity lines, it was informed that 285 schools in the district have been identified where high-tension lines are passing over the school premises. The District Magistrate directed electricity department officials to take immediate steps to shift these lines. He emphasized that there should be no risk to the safety of children studying in these schools.
Pending Kayakalp Works to Be Completed on Priority
While reviewing the progress under Operation Kayakalp, the District Magistrate directed officials to complete all remaining works in schools on priority. He also instructed that photographs of the works related to demolition of dilapidated buildings, shifting of high-tension electricity lines and other Kayakalp works should be taken before the work begins and after its completion and made available to the concerned authorities.
Chief Development Officer Utkarsh Dwivedi, District Development Officer Rishi Pal Singh, District Basic Education Officer Jaishankar Srivastava, DC MGNREGA Yashovardhan Singh and other officials of the concerned departments were present at the meeting.
