Family and Crowd Block Road with Deceased’s Body, Traffic Paralyzed for Hours; Immediate Arrest of Accused Demanded.

In the Tilhar police station area of Uttar Pradesh, the deceased’s family staged a road blockade on Nigohi Road by placing the body on the street, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Reports of the family blocking the Tilhar-Nigohi Road with the body created a stir within the police department.
The police force that arrived at the scene made strenuous efforts to clear the blockade, but the crowd protesting in support of the family refused to cooperate. As a result, senior police officials were forced to step in on-site.
Following sustained efforts by Superintendent of Police (City) Deeksha Bhaunre, along with assurances of the prompt arrest of the accused, an impartial probe, and strict legal action, the family agreed to clear the road. The last rites of the deceased, Umesh, were subsequently performed with respect.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2026, the body of 25-year-old Umesh was found hanging from a tree in Nabiyapur village under the Tilhar police station area. It was alleged that prior to his death, Umesh sent an audio recording to his brother, based on which the family leveled serious allegations against five individuals and submitted a written complaint to the police.
Umesh’s family alleges that he was murdered before his body was hung from the tree. They stated that there had been an ongoing dispute with five villagers regarding the theft of a panel.
The family further alleged that following a complaint by the accused, the police took Umesh from his home and physically assaulted him, forcing him to confess to the theft out of fear. In the recording sent to his brother before his death, Umesh accused five fellow villagers of assaulting him.
According to Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit, all aspects of the case are currently under thorough investigation. Further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings and the results of the ongoing probe.
